10 Songs You Need To Hear This Week: Sam Smith, ZAYN, SZA And More

Written By Sam Murphy on 09/08/2017

All the big-wigs came out to play this week, didn't they?

10. Sam Smith - Too Good At Goodbyes

Sam Smith has released the first single off his forthcoming yet-to-be-titled second album. As you'd expect, it's a soaring ballad that features Smith's voice in all its glory. There's also a choir which is a bit exciting isn't it?

9. TOKiMONSTA - No Way (Feat. Isaiah Rashad, Joey Purp, Ambré)

TOKiMONSTA's album Lune Rouge is on the way and No Way is taken from it. It's the most hip-hop-centred cut on the album and also a highlight, showcasing each of the rappers in their best light. Still, it's stamped with TOKiMONSTA's trademark wonky production.

8. Miguel - Shockandawe

Miguel
takes another left turn with his latest track, heading in more of a rock direction. It seems that innovation is key with these latest cuts though as melodically they are far away from what he's done before. It will be very interesting to see what direction the album takes.

7. Phoebe Ryan - Be Real

US popstar Phoebe Ryan continues to get better with each release and Be Real may be her best drop yet. It's a light, floating pop songs that's driven by melodic verses and fees-filled choruses.

6. Taylor Swift - ...Ready For It?

This is definitely the "new" Tay Tay, driven by fast-spoken verses and a big euphoric chorus that's probably going to appease hardcore pop Taylor fans more than Look What You Made Me Do. Word on the street is this isn't a single, just an album track. Reputation is out 10th November.

5. SZA - Quicksand

SZA is on a roll at the moment and she's continuing her streak with Quicksand plucked from the Insecure soundtrack. The mid-tempo once again showcases her effortless flow and honest, genuine vocals. It only builds to the hype already swelling thanks to the announcement she'll be playing next year's FOMO Festival.

4. ZAYN - Dusk Till Dawn (Feat. Sia)

ZAYN is back and he's recruited Sia for his latest single Dusk Till Dawn. With an epic video to boot, the track feels like one of his biggest ever productions. The harmonies bewteen Sia and ZAYN are pretty insane too.

3. Tove Lo - Disco Tits

After a false start last week, Tove Lo's Disco Tits is now available to stream everywhere. It's the first single off the sequel to last year's Lady Wood called Blue Lips. A little darker and sexier than her other works, it's throbbing dance floor anthem that reveals all the strengths of Lo's expressive songwriting.

2. St. Vincent - Los Ageless

St. Vincent has finally announced her forthcoming record MASSEDUCTION and dropped the next single Los Ageless. Los Ageless follows on from New York and it's a wild pop song that soars with a flair only St. Vincent can bring.

1. Kelela - Frontline

Kelela has given us another taste of her forthcoming debut album Take Me Apart. Frontline follows on from LMK and slows the pace down a bit. It's an elongated slow-jam that showcases her voice in a stunning light.
