If you're able to pull yourself away from Charli we're just gonna leave these here.
12. Halsey - Graveyard
It's nice enough.
11. Seyi Shay - Gimme Love (Feat. Teyana Taylor)
Seyi Shay is yet another singer out of Nigeria making effortless afrobeat gold. Teyana Taylor is her first big US cosign and it's a completely unforced inclusion. Taylor's smokey voice inimitable over this beat.
10. Ruel - Don't Cry
Ruel and Sarah Aarons make magic once again on the opener of his new EP Free EP. The largely acoustic number gives his voice a chance to shine, particularly in the powerful ending.
9. Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus & Lana Del Rey - Don't Call Me Angel
Well, it's here and somehow it manages to make these three sound cohesive together. That's an achievement in itself.
8. Your Smith - Man Of Weakness
If Your Smith is not on your radar already she should be. She just dropped a new EP Wild Wild Woman which is kicked off by this anthemic, '90s-tinged cut. It's out via Neon Gold Records so you already know it's going to be good.
7. Jacques Greene - Do It Without You
Jacques Greene has returned with Do It Without You the first single off his forthcoming album Dawn Chorus. It arrives two years after his debut album Feel Infinite and steps out of the house realm for a second to deliver an emotive jungle cut.
6. FKA twigs - Holy Terrain (Feat. Future)
FKA twigs has recruited Future for her latest Magdalene release Holy Terrain. Twigs pulls us into a dark, distorted world as she questions whether she'll be desirable once the chase is over. Despite any doubt she may have, she maintains a muscular level of control as she contorts her voice with the beat.
5. Robinson - Don't Say
Kiwi popstar-in-waiting Robinson has dealt another knockout blow with Don't Say. It's a flickering, richly produced cut with a chorus that Taylor Swift would be jealous of.
4. Slowthai & Denzel Curry - Psycho
Slowthai and Denzel Curry have dropped their new collaboration Psycho after performing it on a number of occasions live. As the title would suggest, it's a possessed, frantic cut that's driven by a flurry of strings. It sounds like the soundtrack to a modern remake of the horror films of the same name.
3. Angel Olsen - Lark
Olsen is a class act and she just keeps getting more and more daring with her offerings. Lark is the grandest she's ever gone. It's a soaring masterpiece that sears right through the heart.
2. Rex Orange County - 10/10
Rex Orange County has unleashed only his second new song of the year 10/10, following on from New House. 10/10 is another classic piece of songwriting that doesn't mess with the classic Rex formula too much. He's getting honest on 10/10 though, wishing he was home and also opening up about a particularly difficult year.
1. Charli XCX - Thoughts
There are plenty of highlights on Charli XCX's Charli but Thoughts defines the record. Featuring only herself and A.G. Cook on the credits, it's a deeply anxious, reflective track with production that plays with your deepest emotions.
