There's no new Drake music this week so it means everyone else has a shot at some attention.
10. Lil Yachty - Who Want The Smoke? (Feat. Cardi B & Offset)
Lil Yachty is back with a new single after a few loose cut drops and he's enlisted heavyweight couple Cardi B and Offset for it. The problem with doing that is they steal the show making Yachty look like the feature.
9. SG Lewis - Better (Feat. Clairo)
British producer SG Lewis has teamed up with lo-fi popstar Clairo for warm, electronic track Better. It's his first release since the drop of side-1 of his album Dusk and suggests we're heading further into the nighttime.
8. YUNGBLUD - Medication
YUNGBLUD dropped his debut album 21st Century Liability today and you're either going to love it or really hate it which is kind of brilliant. Medication is one of the most immediate songs of the set. It's a charged-up jam about the pill-popping nation and it's unashamedly YUNGBLUD.
7. Years & Years - Karma
Years & Years sophomore album is out and while the whole thing is full of bops this one shines brightest. It's produced by GRADES who helped shape Nao's wobbly funk sound and this one holds a similar quality. Olly's voice sounds excellent over something a little more soulful.
6. Ella Mai - Boo'd Up (Feat. Nicki Minaj & Quavo)
This is the song of the summer overseas right now and now Ella Mai has added two heavyweights to boost it even further. Nicki Minaj gives a predictably excellent feature and it's nice to her her back with Quavo again after a short rift.
5. Odette - Lights Out
Odette's debut album is out today and it's a sweeping, honest and skilful project but we're most taken with this one Lights Out. It's such a gentle, fragile song but there's this power in Odette's vocal delivery. It goes from being heartbreaking to this declaration of independence which is so empowering.
4. Woodes - Change My Mind
Woodes has some big tunes in her catalogue but she's scaled it back for this gorgeous new song Change My Mind. She explores ethereal harmonies and subtle melodies, allowing the warmth to rush in without forcing anything.
3. Lontalius - I Wanted Him
Lontalius has finally returned with new music after two years and he's even more honest and raw than ever before. I Wanted Him cuts straight to the heart with his most powerful vocal performance yet. The whole thing is totally unfiltered and poetic.
2. RAYE - Friends
Ok, RAYE has a huge bop on her hands with this newie. Friends takes us back to her guest spot on Jax Jones' You Don't Me as she serves sassy, charismatic lyrics over a beat that needs to be taken to the clubs ASAP.
1. Christine & The Queens - Doesn't Matter
Christine & The Queens has dropped a serious contender for song of the year this week. Doesn't Matter is a classic, '80s-driven track that goes deep contemplating faith, love and existence. It's incredibly complex but delivered so simply and beautifully. The video is really something too.
