in. Playlist Curated By GL

Written By Sam Murphy on 07/05/2017

GL are one of the most vibrant acts in the country right now, shaking up the pop sound with tinges of electronica and nostalgia. They impressed us last year with their dancefloor-ready debut album Touch and have us dancing once again with their new double A-side Destiny/Reflect. The duo of Graeme Pogson and Ella Thompson know exactly how to craft a moveable jam that's still sonically interesting and layered.

They're heading out on tour for a quick few shows this week and if you haven't seen them before we highly recommend getting along to one of their shows for a boogie.

Before then, we got them to create a playlist for us of the music they're listening to. Spanning everything from Jessica Mauboy to Alice Coltrane, it's an insight into just how diverse their music tastes are.

Check out the playlist and their reasoning for choosing each song below.

Real High - Nite Jewel

Big fan of Nite Jewel, so many great releases. I especially loved the Nite Funk EP she made with Dam Funk. 'Real High' is from her brand new album and I'm diggin this mellow gem.

It Means I Love You - Jessie Lanza

Jessie has been killin for a few years now. This song has an addictive bounce and unconventional melodic flow. Love it.

Fallin' - Jessica Mauboy

Great to hear Jess' voice in this new tune, more stripped back than some her others and I'm fallin' for her all over again.

Fairweather Friend - Kadhja Bonet

I've been in love with her album The Visitor since first listen, some of themes sound like they could be from a 60's bond film. I love the opening of this song it sounds like a Dark Child line arranged for a harp. Beautiful words and arrangements throughout the album.

You Know What It's Like - Carla dal Forna

A very special artist. Sounds like Delia Derbyshire and Nico had a jam.

When I Try, I'm Full - Kaityln Aurelia Smith

A fully immersive experience, feels like having an outdoor bath in the bush.

Borders - MIA

One of the most important songs going around. If you haven't seen the video. Please do!

Ghost - Geryon

A friend from Melbourne making next level music happen!

Doomed - Moses Sumney

That voice!

Lotus Collage - Laraaji

I love the auto-harp and he plays it in a very special way.

Er Ra - Alice Coltrane

More beautiful harp from Alice Coltrane's amazing new album.

Liberated Woman - Ranking Ann

I dare you not to chill!

They were to modest to add it but we're going to chuck in their new songs too, below:
