These are 7 of the best new artists creating the sounds of the future...

Sad Money
Afterlife (Feat. August Grant)

Los Angeles beat maker Sad Money is making some really interesting stuff at the moment. He's creating spacious, minimalist soundscapes paired with melancholic melodies that feel isolated but also strangely warm. Afterlife is his latest cut and also probably his most pop-orientated one. It finds a happy middle ground between mainstream pop and Yung Lean-inspired wooziness and sounds strange but at the same time really accessible. That's exactly how futuristic sounds should hear the first time you hear them and there's something really fresh about Afterlife.

Tristan
001

Tristan is an Australian producer from Ballarat of all places who has struck gold with his most recent upload 001. It's the first in a series of originals that he plans to upload soon and this one samples Kendrick Lamar's Untitled 4. He's stripped it of its hip-hop roots and replaced it will a bed of detouring electronic beats. Conflicting sounds compete with each other for attention throughout but somehow he makes it all work. The guitar melody is also an unexpected but melodically-pleasing touch. Tristan may just be the most exciting thing to come out of Ballarat since gold.

TOULOUSE
Hurtin

TOULOUSE may be the most retro-sounding artist on the list but on his first track Hurtin, the New York artist is doing some wildly innovative stuff. It's a throwback soul tune complete with horns and strings but he's arranged them in such a way that it sounds like a Bond theme turned on its head. He plays with rhythm and pushes traditional instruments to their limit making something that should sound pretty standard, sound like nothing you've ever heard before in your life. Both stunning and completely shocking.

Jesse Tallis
Fool 4 U

Jesse Tallis is an artist from Melbourne, Australia and that's all we can pretty much tell you about them. They're a bit of an enigma right now but it doesn't matter because the tunes are doing plenty of talking. The latest Fool 4 U is a dark, twisted R&B tune that sounds like it's been recorded in the early hours of the morning when thoughts are hazy. It's intimate, personal and sounds exactly like the sort of R&B that should be made in a post-Weeknd climate. It's not an abrasive tune but it's one that will work its way under your skin eventually.

Jammz
The World

Jammz is both a British grime MC and a producer but it's his latest instrumental work that has us really excited. The World takes the standard grime/garage aesthetic and takes it into the world of experimental electronica peppering it with manipulated vocals and HudMo-esque sytnh work. He's started his own label I Am Grime and is dropping vicious raps as well as amazing beats. His Soundcloud is well worth checking out but the beat below is the future.

Samuel
Killr

Samuel is a singer from South London who is making boundary-pushing, spacious R&B music. Killr is his second track, a personal, supremely delivered ode to toxic love. His voice is brilliant but its elevated by the production work of fellow Brit Kwes and Okzharp. Together they have created an industrial, icy soundscape that's both hard-hitting and tender. It's taken from his forthcoming EP Luv Cry which will be out on 10th June.

Naomi Pilgrim
I Wonder

Naomi Pilgrim is a Swedish vocalist who has made some killer pop tracks over the past two years or so. She's prepping a new EP due for release on 3rd June and this track I Wonder precedes it. I Wonder is the most innovative and gritty thing she's done, destroying pop's perfect mould and replacing it with distorted synths and vicious vocal work. As pop becomes less and less manufactured thanks to acts like Beyoncé and Rihanna, maybe this is the sort of thing we'll demand on our radios in the future.
