Most people will know Anderson .Paak for his work on Dr. Dre's Compton or TOKiMONSTA's Realla but his also building up a really strong portfolio of solo work and this latest one The Season/Carry Me is a highlight. The track was debuted on Dr. Dre's Beats 1 show The Pharmacy and is a funky-cross-soulful number taking cues from Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly.
.Paak is a great songwriter and lyricist but his voice really gets his tracks across the line. It's got this croaky, immediately recognisable tone to it that really can't be learnt helping him to sit somewhere between rapping and singing.
For those of you down-under who are fans, .Paak will be here at the end of this month to headline One Day Only with a full band. Check the deets here.
