This Weekend’s 5 Gigs Under $50

Written By Zanda Wilson on 10/09/2015

The music scene in Sydney is bursting with talent, but between the plethora of international acts and growing number of lesser known artists performing each week, it can be tricky to choose where to spend your time and cash. Here at the interns, we make it our mission to fit in as much music into each week as humanly possible. This week we’ve got a taste of indie rock, heavy metal, and everything in between.

Parkway Drive – Friday 9th/Saturday 10th October @ The Hordern Pavilion

How Much: $62.29

Parkway Drive sneak into this gig guide although this particular gig scrapes over the $50 mark because they’ve spent most of their career playing cheaper gigs that would’ve fit the criteria. The boys have spent the best part of a decade making some of the most uncompromising and intense heavy music. Catch them this Friday or Saturday at the Hordern, tickets from here

Last Dinosaurs – Friday 9th October @ The Enmore Theatre

How Much: $39.95

Having just released their sophomore album ‘Wellness’, Brisbane four-piece Last Dinosaurs are off on a national tour to celebrate the release. The latest album shows off a more accomplished side to the indie rock stylings of the group, whilst still keeping a certain raw and real feel to their music that made their first album so popular. Tickets available from here.

BAD//DREEMS – Friday 9th October @ Oxford Art Factory

How Much: $17.90

Adelaide boys BAD//DREEMS have recently released their debut LP, featuring the incredible hit single ‘Hiding To Nothing’. Having also just toured the UK, BAD//DREEMS are now playing a number of dates across the country including an intimate show at Oxford Art Factory in Sydney this Friday. Tickets are selling fast from here

World’s End Press – Friday 9th October @ Civic Underground

How Much: $17.50

The boys from World's End Press are back and will be hitting the Civic Underground to bolster the release of the new single 'Tall Stories'. The track ventures away from their well-trodden disco sound and towards a house vibe, all while keeping the boys' toe-tapping beats intact. Tickets for this gig available from here

Ali Barter - Saturday 10th October @ Brighton Up Bar

How Much: $10.00

‘AB-EP’ is the third EP release from Melbourne’s Ali Barter, following on from previous EP releases ‘Trip’ (2012) and ‘Community’ (2014). To launch this new EP, Ali Barter is excited to announce that she will be hitting the road for a run of co-headline dates with close friend Ben Wright Smith. Tickets from here
