Following the release of their haunting yet beautiful debut If You Leave in 2013, London trio Daughter have returned with their new single Doing The Right Thing. The track has been plucked from their forthcoming sophomore album Not To Disappear and showcases the sonic lushness and brooding intensity of which Daughter are swiftly becoming renowned for. Dealing with the subject of dementia and its impact and ramifications on family, the track is both emotional and hard hitting, while maintaining a gentle and gorgeous demeanour throughout. Doing The Right Thing sees Daughter at their best and most effecting.
Enlisting the direction of Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard (Directors of Nick Cave film 20,000 Days on Earth) along with author Stuart Evers, Daughter will be releasing a trilogy of short films to coincide with tracks from their upcoming album. Doing The Right Thing is the first of the three and it perfectly captures the essence of the track, both musically and lyrically.
If the lead single is anything to go by, Not To Disappear is shaping up to be another stellar effort from Daughter.
Not to Disappear is out January 15th via 4AD / Remote Control Records.
