Australia’s R&B Newcomer Floria Makes A Big Splash With ‘Talk To Me’

Floria is the latest artist to herald in a new wave of R&B in this country. From Gill Bates and the incredible production of Tigerilla to Koi Child and Baro there’s plenty more gold to attribute to Australian R&B than simply Iggy Azalea – not that we needed to tell you that. Brisbane artist Floria has just been announced as the latest¬†signing to Perth-based label Pilerats and he’s dropped a mighty new tune to mark the occasion. He featured on the latest Sable banger Like You (Girl) and will support US rap duo Rae Sremmurd on their headline shows while in the country for Listen Out.

Talk To Me is a dense, dark production driven by auto-tuned but emotive vocals. There’s definitely a US influence here but that’s totally understandable for any contemporary hip-hop fan and he manages to pull it off without any imitation. The track hits hard from its opening second and is an anthem for not giving a shit about what anybody says. It’s the type of ego that should serve him well making an indent locally and then internationally. Apparently a debut mixtape is on the way which will probably make him one of the most talked about artists in Australia – hyperbolic, yes, but this track is that good.
