The music scene in Sydney is bursting with talent, but between the plethora of international acts and growing number of lesser known artists performing each week, it can be tricky to choose where to spend your time and cash. Here at the interns, we make it our mission to fit in as much music into each week as humanly possible. This week there’s a silly amount of music on the weekend, so we’ve got you covered from electro to acoustic and whatever else you might be into.

The Grates

In November last year The Grates released their 4th album Dream Team. They now make they’re long-awaited return to the stage with their Team Work Makes The Dream Work Australian east coast tour. With a career that has spanned more than a decade and four celebrated studio albums, it’s safe to say that The Grates live is an investment worth making. Tickets here.

After releasing their sophomore album All Possible Futures earlier this year, Aussie indie-electro legends Miami Horror return home in August after an extensive tour of both North and South America. Sydney psychedelic lads Upskirts have announced some aptly timed tour dates, coinciding with the launch of their EP ‘Barely Moving’ as well as the video for their latest single Nothing Happens In Roseville. This will also be the first time many of the efforts on Barely Moving will be given a public airing. Tickets at the door or from Newtown Social Club.

Friday 14th August @ Oxford Art Factory (Gallery Bar)

Banff is the former front man of Brisbane group Little Casino, but stepped down in 2014 to focus on his solo work. The result? Ethereal layers of spacious, soul-drenched indie-pop – that is the craft of singer-songwriter known also as Benjamin Forbes. With over 150,000 listens to his single Stand In Line Banff is proving himself to be one to look out for this year. Tickets here.

Saturday 15th August @ Brighton Up Bar

The first half of 2015 has seen Melbourne's Foreign/National trade their unrelenting love of touring for the confines of the studio to begin work on a debut album. Now with the release of Pacific Cruise, another product of their collaborative partnership with Joey Walker from King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard), Foreign/National are ready to hit the stage again to showcase a whole heap of new material.
