We've waited over a year to get new material from Kelela after her brilliant mixtape Cut 4 Me, but it seems it was well worth the wait because today we've been delivered what could be her best work yet, A Message. The song is taken from her forthcoming HALLUCINOGEN EP and was produced by Arca. If you're not familiar with Arca, he's worked with FKA Twigs and Kanye West and released a dark, powerful full-length last year, Xen. Together Kelela and him have conjured up something that's both captivating and haunting. It's minimal yet dense with manipulated vocal layering with makes it slightly off-kilter. Remember the first time you heard FKA Twigs and the way her beats made you feel slightly un-balanced? Hearing A Message gives the same kind of feeling but it's also balanced by a beautiful vocal melody that Kelela just kills.
